Ryker –
Diamond head is a fairly short walk (under 30 mins) with a steep incline of steps towards the top. Be prepared for a walk though and bring plenty of water — there are NO facilities once you get on the hike. It’s not difficult but you should bring proper shoes not flip flops. The views are amazing and it’s spectacular.
Kellen –
Fabulous views all around. I didn’t realize the state park is actually in the crater and that it had military history significance. With it’s proximity to Waikiki this is one popular hike to do. As such it attracts so many people to do it especially in the mornings before it gets too hot.

From the parking lot on the crater floor, the trail to the summit is 0.8 mile (1.3 km) one way and climbs 560 feet (171 m) in elevation.

What is the elevation at the highest point? What is the elevation at the start of the hike? Thank you.
Rose –
The trail itself is fairly well maintained but plenty of uneven surfaces so wear sturdy footwear. Nevertheless once at the top the views are impressive. Diamond Head State Park is one of the most famous spots in Oahu, that can seen for miles. A lovely beautiful area numerous guests travel to Diamond Head to look down at Waikiki Beach.
Lynn Fisher –
